| Here are five simple things you need to know before
creating your part.
1. Environment
Will your part be under extreme
heat conditions, next to a heat-generating element or exposed to
UV rays? Will it ever be in hot or cold
water? Will it experience air pressure differentials, come
in contact with chemicals or other corrosive materials? These
are all important considerations to make before your part is made.
2. Certifications
Does
your part require compliance for food contact or does it need to
adhere to UL, NSF or international standards? Investigating
this before-hand is necessary for parts used in food or beverage
service, distribution, or for parts used in the medical industry.
3. Tooling
Do you already have the tool in place
for this piece, or does it need to be built? If the tool is
currently with another plastics company, did your contract with them
include a fee for sending your tool to you?
4. Color
Have you considered the color and
finish for your part? Plastic
materials can be custom color matched to meet your needs. A
wide variety of finishes are also available to complete the look
you desire.
5. Shipment & Storage
Whether you are producing a small or large qty, consider just-in-time
shipping or how you plan to store your parts. |
